stuff we're fixin' to do-

yes, i just used the word stuff...and the word fixin'...apparently, "fixin' to" is not a phrase that everyone in our good ol' USA uses. i think some people would say that is not proper english...that is completely preposterous...it is TEXAN, and that should be a good enough excuse to use the phrase...anyway, there is big news in the kennedy house. now you're first thought here might be...she's pregnant, but then i'm going to have to remind you to use your brain here...clif is deployed, so that is obviously not the big news. noooo....our news is not that big, but we finally have an answer to the next place we will be stationed. it is not completely 100% for sure, so i might have to write again in a month or so explaining that we are moving somewhere different, but for now we are headed to (drum roll please.....) Washington D.C. we are excited - for a number of reasons....1) we are excited to move from one of the most expensive housing markets to the other one (just kidding, that's not something we're too pumped about) seriously though, in no particular order - 1) GW Bush will be our neighbor 2) museums 3) history 4) cherry blossoms 5) wonderful friends THAT ALREADY LIVE THERE...YIPEEEEE! 6) excuse me, i'm tearing up now...target, pottery barn, anthropologie & many many more stores that clif will forbid me from spending money in 6) seasons (i'll probably be cursing snow in a few months) & winter clothes! 7) clif will be home every night!!!! it will be sad to leave this beautiful place, but i'm always excited about the next project.
and other good news is this deployment is winding down...7 months...whew. it's a long time, but i'm just glad it's almost over. looks like just about 2 weeks or so until our family is complete again. clay knows clif is in pictures and he also calls the truck da-da...so meeting him should be interesting. so, stuff is happening here. oh yeah...i've been tagged~
the rules to the game...
1. Grab the book closest to you.
2. Open to page 123, go down to the fourth sentence
3. Post the text of the following three sentences
.4. Name the author and book title.
5. Tag three other people to do the same

"Be aware that perfectionists are sensitive, admit that this is an ingrained pattern, and deal with it, but don't expect to get rid of it overnight. Instead, watch for those times when you catch yourself being very sensitive or being defensive about criticism, whether it comes from others or from within yourself. You will do alot of the "two steps forward, one step backward" shuffle. At the end of the day, you may look back and say, I really didn't need to get so upset over forgetting to mail that important letter or to make that call."
-The Birth Order Book by Dr. Kevin Leman

mam sent this book my way...it's been intesting. this particular paragraph isn't so interesting to me, because i'm a far cry from a perfectionist...i laughed out loud when reading because as he begins the last born chapter, he says he knows that they've just skipped the previous 8 chapter...i laughed because this is exactly what i did. i'm so glad to have excuse for my "baby" personality...helloooo "it's not MY fault!"

I tag -- Anne (because she's got more books than she knows what to do with!) Erin (because I like to listen to her point of view) and....Cara (because she's choosy about her books, so if she's reading it, it's probably good...and educational on parenting!)

We Georgia girls say "fixin", too. :-)

I played along with your reading game, by the way. I've been too tired to think about anything to blog about, so thanks!

I'm so excited about your news! DC is not too far from us...looks like we may get to all meet up and eat some (not so good) Mexican food or have some Blue Bell (at Outback)! And, 2 weeks is just enough time to get everything ready for Clif...I'm so happy there is an end in sight for you. Also, we are Kevin Leman readers at this house. He makes good sense.
